BEND

2018
Bend is a simple stand for mobile phone devices.

It is a single piece of bent 11 gauge steel with oak inserts. I made this piece with all scrap materials as a quick exercise in metal bending. I started off trying to make more of a sculpture, experimenting with sheet steel, so the functionality of the form came organically. I left the metal unfinished for a more industrial aesthetic, paired with the wood texture. Designed mianly for meals or impromptu media sharing, it can also stand alone as a sculpture when not in use.
